Because I was working for Ivor Abrahams and trying to get my studio at Phipp St. habitable, I paid a first year to help me. This didn't go down well with most of the staff, neither did my walling off my space, everyone else showed in the open studio. Martin told me that the feeling was I was too commercial. On the outside of my box I stuck images of work from the previous two years, a gesture that was more confusing than informative.

There was a strange feeling going inside, because everything was close to the floor and model like, the viewer felt large, like you get when you go round a model village.

On opposite walls were six etchings in white frames and six in black.
