'..And when as in the case of George Foster at 18 Phipp St. E.C.2 finished  exhibits were displayed beside work in progress, the chance to gauge the one against the other was also valuable.

Foster builds up his large assemblages, half painting and half sculpture, by a process of accummulation, loading layer upon layer of symbolism, found objects, gestural mark-making and hand written texts onto their bulky surfaces. Just how  important the presense of this dense texturing really was could be gathered from the enormous house-like structure in the middle of the room, an incomplete work which seemed mute and ineloquent without such an overlay.'

This show was a mixture of work from the previous studio show and the shelf pieces later shown at the P.M.J.Self Gallery in Covent Garden.
