'Poor Immigrant' 6' x 3'something x 6'' Wood, plaster surface, paint and dyes. The title is from Bob Dylan's 'I pity the poor immigrant'. It got into John Moores 10 in 1976. It was good to take some of the family and show them the piece in the Walker Art Gallery, proved I was real. My dad still thought I was part of a London criminal gang, he didn't go and see it. I got my only ever fan-mail about it. |
Made around the same time, now in the collection of Andrew and Jeannette Sutton. They bought the Moores piece as well and recently passed it on to Dr. J. Filshie |
Another plaster surface piece about 5' long. It was the only thing I took to my interview at the Royal College and Prof. Peter DeFrancia asked why I'd brought only one piece I explained it was all I could fit in the taxi. |
I made a few of these mixed media things round74/75. This one had glass, wood, plaster, rope, latex, newsprint, string. Stupid, really. Below is a detail. |
